PearSports and BitGym Prove to be the Right Workout Recipe For Me

After nearly a month and a half of using PearSports in combination with BitGym on my iPhone and Apple TV at home, I have to say, I think I've found the perfect formula.BitGym working on treadmillBeing able to have proper and personalized (using a calibrated heart rate monitor) fitness training using the PearSports workout program Zero to Running by @CoachJenny has given me great comfort in knowing I'm not overdoing it in learning how to run. With her training, I've learned not to overexert myself and run with a better pace and control.Initially, I'd had some difficulties getting the heart rate monitor to find my heartbeat but I think I've found the nuance of an issue. Both times I had difficulties, I'd put the chest strap on several minutes before my workout hoping to get it "warmed up" and able to catch my heartbeat quickly. Well it seems that's the exact opposite way to go about this. Every single time I throw on the chest strap just before starting my run, it's picked it up great! Both times I put it on early, it didn't work at all.So, having said all of that, I LOVE my new setup! There is however, a disadvantage to using my particular configuration of BitGym on my iPhone while using PearSports. In order for BitGym to work and project my tour into the Apple TV, I have to place the phone on the treadmill so that it can sense movement using the front facing camera.BitGym working on iPhoneBitGym Working with AirPlayThis means that I'm unable to take advantage of the PearSports' pace, distance and running gate features - since the iPhone is sitting on the treadmill and not in my pocket or hand while running. Even being restricted while using the PearSports training by @CoachJenny's it is still an incredible experience in which I'm learning to love running. This provides an update to my previous article regarding the difficulty I'd encountered using both apps with the heart rate monitor.
