As with the many this time of year, here comes the fitness talk.

Well, welcome to the final end of 2013 and the new dawn of a new year.  With that often comes reflections and hopes for the new year to come.  As with the many, fitness and health is often in the mix and I am no exception.  Throughout this past year, efforts were made and success in this area waxed and waned; however, somehow at the end of the year, certain resolve seems to find its way into our home once again.  In spite of the desires and efforts made throughout the year, it always seems to come back to having a brand new fresh start to try again - and this time, do.LifeSpan TR1200i ConsoleWe purchased our first in-home treadmill which was delivered immediately following the wonderfully indulgent holiday celebrations.  Sunday morning we spent most of an hour assembling (fairly simply, might I add) our LifeSpan TR1200i up along with a small, wall-mounted TV for our in home gym (corner).  After over a month of lengthy research, we landed on this treadmill for it's quality and build as well as price point.  And finally, after a long awaited arrival, we were able to give it a test run, and it went great!LifeSpan TR1200i bottomIn addition, to ensure that I have a positive and constructive experience with using an in-home treadmill without a trainer who knows all about exercise physiology, I've researched and purchased the PearSports Gear System.  The system comes with a free iOS app, a heart rate monitor and a pair of headphones setup to work with the training programs specifically.PearSports Mobile AccessoriesPearSports Zero to RunningSo far, I have had my first heart rate calibration (a coached 20 minute session) and my first workout.  I've elected the Zero to Running plan to begin the new year and within 10 weeks I should be stronger, healthier and be better equipped to run without risk of injury. There is great comfort in knowing that this system will help prevent me from over doing it and over exerting my body in eager enthusiasm for getting fit.I'm excited to see what we will be able to accomplish in the new year with zero excuses.Cheers to you all and have a very save New Years' Eve!
